Kropscott Farm Environmental Center exists to serve the community through education, agriculture, and scientific studies in regards to environmental and natural resource impact. Throughout any given year, you will see students and adults alike, of all ages and abilities, enjoying the 80 acres through recreation and education. It is common for community groups to hold meetings, workshops, and studies on the land owned and operated by Newaygo Conservation District. Without volunteers, staff, and community, this land could not be maintained or continue to be developed for the benefit of Newaygo County and surrounding areas. It is not uncommon for one community member to feel tied to the land based on an educational exploration or retreat, while another is plugged into an agroforestry project. All the while, the apiary serves our pollinators and local beekeepers, the barn houses community events, and the ADA trail supports environmental literacy, STEAM hikes, and begins the Newaygo County Birding Trail. One of our most immediate needs is to install the 10 vehicle parking lot at the trailhead of the ADA compliant trail (#20 on site plan); this lot will allow all visitors the opportunity to enjoy a full ADA compliant hiking experience. To continue to grow and sustain our facilities for the community, take a look at the opportunities ahead! Reach out if you, your organization or community group see an avenue to plug in and support the efforts of Kropscott Farm Environmental Center.
